InterMoor Adds Rigless
Well Abandonment Services

InterMoor Ltd. has added rigless well abandonment capabilities to its U.K.-based services. Consolidating the capabilities of former sister company OIS Ltd., InterMoor UK can now help clients to plan and execute turnkey suspended well-decommissioning campaigns. This includes vessel charter and project management of all onshore and offshore operations from the initial review of well schematics to the production of end-of-well reports.

Tiger Acquires Comea’s Fleet
Of Offshore CCUs in Italy

Tiger Offshore Rentals has acquired Comea Imprianti Industriali’s entire fleet of DNV-certified offshore cargo carrying units (CCUs) in Italy.

In conjunction with the acquisition, Tiger and Comea entered into an agency agreement that allows Comea to re-rent Tiger’s full line of DNV-certified CCUs, offshore baskets, containers, skips, cuttings boxes, tanks and carriers to its customers.

Proserv Awarded Decom
Contracts in North Sea

Proserv has been awarded three contracts worth a combined value of more than $2.5 million for decommissioning work in the Norwegian North Sea.

The firm’s Stavanger facility will provide cutting services as part of a full severance package covering subsea and topside work. This includes abrasive cutting, diamond wire cutting, grout removal and dredging services.

ACE Mobilizes Six-Point Mooring System for Brent Decom
ACE Winches has successfully mobilized a six-point mooring system to anchor the Iron Lady Barge being used on the Brent decommissioning project. The Brent field is 115 mi. northeast of the Shetland Islands, Scotland. The ACE equipment is now in situ and being supported by a team of ACE Winches offshore personnel.

The mooring system incorporates ACE hydraulic drum winches ranging from 75 te WLL to 25 te WLL, powered by six closed-loop diesel hydraulic power units.

IPE Gets Funding for
Oil, Gas Research Training

A major funding package for the Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE) at Heriot-Watt University will directly support research and training for the future of the industry in U.K. offshore waters. Heriot-Watt’s Chief Scientist Professor John Underhill has secured funding of £416,000 from Verus Petroleum, an independent oil company active on the U.K. Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The award will support a number of oil and gas-related training and Applied Geoscience research activities in IPE, including the NERC Centre for Doctoral Training, the Ogilvie-Gordon 3D Audio-Visualisation Centre and UKCS and Frontier Basins Ph.D. research activities.

Oceaneering to Support
Appomattox Development in Gulf

Oceaneering International Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide services and products to support the design, fabrication and installation of ancillary flowline hardware for the Appomattox development in the Mississippi Canyon Area of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for Shell Offshore Inc.

The scope of work for ancillary flowline hardware will include the procurement and installation of pre-lay and post-lay crossing mattresses, flowline jumper fabrication and installation, manifold installation, and the design, procurement, fabrication and installation of subsea buoyancy for flowline thermal expansion.

The offshore installation services will be performed in various phases from late 2017 to 2019.

2H Offshore Launches JIP
For Fatigue Assessment

2H Offshore has launched the STREAM (STeel Riser Enhanced Analytics using Measurements) Joint Industry Project (JIP), which will see 2H Offshore work with operators to find efficiencies for the industry.

Currently, four major oil and gas operators have agreed to participate in the JIP. 2H also invites more interested industry partners to join.

STREAM aims to provide a measurement-based foundation for steel catenary riser (SCR) modeling to allow for accurate fatigue assessment. SCRs have been widely used in the deepwater offshore industry due to their service reliability. However, field measurements indicate that riser fatigue damage is often overpredicted at the critical touchdown region, which can lead to higher riser costs for the industry.

Full-scale field data from six deepwater SCR systems have been secured from STREAM JIP participants, including four major operators. 2H will apply its proven riser response data analytics methodology to benchmark design, identify gaps and derive calibrated modeling parameters. The results will benefit the future design and life extension of riser systems.

Guide for Vessels Providing
Offshore Accommodation

ASTM International’s committee on ships and marine technology (F25) has approved the first standard for vessels designed to accommodate construction crews working on offshore projects. The new standard aims to address the wide range of quality and safety of such vessels.

The standard will be published as: “Guide for Design, Construction and Operation of Vessels Providing Accommodation Service to Offshore Installations (F3257).”

The guide will help those who build and operate ships to communicate features about crew safety and environmental protection.

Regulatory bodies could use demonstrations of compliance to the standard as evidence that a vessel is appropriate for its intended use and fit for service.

Corvus to Supply ESS for
Retrofit of Offshore Vessel

Corvus Energy has been selected by Wärtsilä as the supplier of lithium-ion-based energy storage systems (ESS) for the retrofit of an offshore platform supply vessel, the Viking Princess. Corvus will be supplying the Orca Energy ESS solution for the project.

The Viking Princess is the second Eidesvik platform supply vessel to adopt a Corvus ESS, after the Viking Lady.

The 533-kWh Orca Energy ESS will be installed on the vessel in a hybrid arrangement, replacing one LNG genset.
